Word or denomination

Word or denomination

This is an option used to apply for denominative trademarks, that is, a sign composed entirely of one or more words or letters, with or without meaning, and/or a combination of, words, letters or numbers. These are represented only through writing without incorporating designs or images of any kind. Please note that article 23 of the Industrial Property Bylaw indicates that a single letter or number may not be registered as a trademark unless it is represented graphically by a design that provides distinctiveness.

Logo (figurative mark)

Is a sign made up of figures, images, combinations of colors, symbols, or drawings, without incorporating words, letters, or numbers. An image of the mark is essential when processing an application for this type of trademark, as it constitutes the trademark itself, and it is the applicant´s duty to include it, in the manner that the applicant wishes to register it.

Mixed

Mixed

Is a sign made up of figures, images, combinations of colors, symbols, or drawings, as well as words, letters, and/or numbers. As is the case with the figurative mark, an image of the mark is essential when processing an application for this type of trademark, as it constitutes the trademark itself, and it is the applicant´s duty to include it, in the manner that the applicant wishes to register it. In the case where there is inconsistency between what the applicant designates as the title or denomination of the sign and the copy of the requested sign included with the record, the title of the requested sign should be modified in order to coincide with the sign appearing in the included graphical representation.

Sound

Sound

Sound trademarks are made up of sounds that make it possible to distinguish a certain company origin. A graphical representation is essential for processing the trademark application. To this end, a stave must be included in the application along with the recorded audio, in the manner that the applicant wishes to register it.
